Folk Songs for Marimba

by Patrick Roulet. ISBN 978-1-57463-391-7; $14.95

The songs in this collection are drawn from the rich folk music traditions from around the world. Each folk song is arranged three ways: the folk song tune by itself, a two-mallet version using rolls and/or double stops, and a four-mallet version. The collection is ideal for beginning, intermediate, or even advanced mallet players who are looking for four-mallet sight reading material. The songs can be performed individually or together in a group.

  • The four-mallet arrangements are all playable on a 4 and 1/3 octave “low A” marimba.
  • The folk song tunes and two-mallet arrangements can be played on marimba, vibraphone, or a standard set of orchestra bells.

The following folk songs are included in this volume:

America the Beautiful, Annie Laurie, Arirang, Believe Me, if All Those Endearing Young Charms, Blow the Man Down, Cradle Song, Danny Boy, Drink to Me Only with Thine Eyes, Greensleeves, Korobeiniki, Loch Lomond, Sakura Sakura, Scarborough Fair, Shall We Gather at the River, Shenandoah, Simple Gifts, Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child, Songs My Mother Taught Me, Sur le Pont d’Avignon, Were You There, When Irish Eyes are Smiling
